North Yorkshire Moors Railway / Winter NER Autocar Services
As NYMR rounds off its Railway 200 celebrations, they’re delighted to welcome back the beautifully restored, diesel-powered North Eastern Railway Electric Autocar No. 3170, and that’s thanks to the NER 1903 Electric Autocar Trust.

If you’re looking for something extra to do with the family this ‘Twix-mas time’, then why not blow away those cobwebs with a heritage train ride (between Pickering and Grosmont stations)? NYMR have put together a few itinerary ideas, which includes the very popular Rail Trail walk which will help you to make the most out of your visit. So, step aboard this remarkable, excellent piece of history and enjoy a cosy festive winter journey through the North York Moors National Park during this special time of the year.
Timetable:
NYMR’s services run between Pickering, Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations. You can actually begin your journey at any of the above stations, but please do make sure to return to your starting point within the timetable. Unfortunately (due to the layout of the train) these services are not accessible for wheelchair users. If you’d like to travel on the Autocar, you will need to be able to board and step up to the seating area without assistance.
